Sundays at Christ Church Newton

Serving Each Other on Sundays at Christ Church Newton

Christ Church, Newton, offers parishioners many opportunities to serve during Sunday worship. Men, women and children are welcome to volunteer as ushers, lectors, Eucharistic ministers, and acolytes.

Volunteers are also needed to serve as Coffee Hour hosts and to distribute food to to the needy through the Sunday Brunch in a Bag initiative.

Worship Volunteers

Ushers are responsible for greeting people at the door, handing out bulletins, taking up the weekly collection, and attending to the individual needs of parishioners.

Lectors help to lead worship by reading aloud the words of the Old and New Testament, as well as the Prayers of the People, during the service.

Acolytes assist the Rector at the altar, carry the cross and candles, help with the offertory and other duties.

The Altar Guild cares for the vessels, linens and vestments used during services, and prepares the altar for services on Sundays, holy days, funerals and other occasions.
